Ecumenical Accompanier (EA) Mpumlaphi  supports wall graffiti in East Jerusalem where settlements were built in the past few years.  Then I took my turn…..

Illegal settlements for new Israeli citizens are increasing by 5% a year. In Jerusalem, the city looks dirtier and more unkept than years back due to increased rubbish strewn on the hillsides, and building rubble dumped onto vacant land.  Previously demolished buildings of Palestinian owners also have added to the rubble-dump look. Once inside these settlements, one sees the tree-lined streets with orderly gardens, freshly cleaned apartment buildings, bicycle lanes, people out jogging, large western-style shopping malls, and the dog out for a walk on leash. Big bucks from American and other European Jewry have been invested to make these homes safe and secure and away from any aspects of Palestinian life.
